{"id":4748,"date":"2016-08-04T22:52:23","date_gmt":"2016-08-04T21:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bowlanedental.com\/?p=4748"},"modified":"2018-11-22T10:14:27","modified_gmt":"2018-11-22T10:14:27","slug":"what-does-your-smile-say-about-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.dental-focus.co.uk\/bowlanedental\/preview\/what-does-your-smile-say-about-you\/","title":{"rendered":"What does your smile say about you?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More and more of us are seeking teeth-straightening solutions to fix a crooked smile.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to new statistics out this week that reveals a spike in the number of adults looking for orthodontic treatments.<\/p>\n<p>A survey released this week \u2013 and carried out by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bos.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">British Orthodontic Society<\/a>, that represents dentists who offer teeth-straightening solutions, reveals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>75% of dentist are seeing an increase in adult treatment<\/li>\n<li>Key drivers for treatment appear to be heightened awareness of adult orthodontics alongside rising expectations on how treatment can positively impact on both appearance and wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>A quarter of respondents are starting more than 50 new adult cases each year<\/li>\n<li>Of adult patients in mixed and private practices: 66% of patients are 26-40 year olds and 22% are 41-55. More than 10% are 18-25<\/li>\n<li>More women than men are seeking teeth straightening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bow Lane Dental\u2019s orthodontist specialist <a href=\"\/team\/raman-aulakh\/\" title=\"Raman Aulakh\">Raman Aulakh<\/a> has seen an increase in the number of patients seeking his help.<\/p>\n<p>He says: \u2018This trend has been gaining momentum over the last five years, with an age range of anything from early 20s to early 70s \u2013 which is surprising! But the majority are in the 20-40s age bracket.\u2019<\/p>\n<h5>According to Raman, the three top reasons for adults wanting straight teeth are:<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>An increased public awareness of braces as well with more dentists than ever before offering this treatment<\/li>\n<li>A healthier, more natural option, to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.dental-focus.co.uk\/bowlanedental\/preview\/services\/smile-makeover\/\" title=\"Full Smile Makeover Treatment options at Bow Lane Dental\">full smile makeover<\/a> that can be achieved with braces<\/li>\n<li>Orthodontics is now very much a part of modern, aesthetic dentistry \u2013 and, anyway, a nice smile is very important today!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>One of Bow Lane Dental\u2019s patients, Ruth, says: \u2018Before I met Raman, I was very confused about what could be done to straighten my teeth but he reassured me that the treatment plan would allay all my fears.
